The history of the oil and natural gas industry in Kansas is long and deep. As a top ten producer of oil and natural gas, Kansas plays an important role on the national energy scene. The state of Kansas currently produces 107,000 barrels of oil and 536 million cubic feet per day of natural gas each day. Largely through the efforts of Kansas independent oil and gas producers, our industry provides the energy our nation needs while fueling our state economy – millions of dollars that fund schools, build roads and sustain thousands of jobs.
