Our workshops are available for K-12 teachers and students.
Drillers – Grades K-3:
The hands-on curriculum makes it fun for students in grades K-3rd grade to learn basic concepts about rock formations, safety and the types of products made from petroleum. Our Drillers curriculum provides everything a teacher needs, including a free teacher’s guide
Fossil to Fuel – Grades 3-6:
This curriculum makes it fun for students in grades 3-5 to learn basic concepts about how energy is transformed from the sun, to carbon-based matter, to petroleum and ultimately for consumer use. The curriculum provides a free teacher’s guide and activity kit.
Exploration – Grades 3-6:
This curriculum expands on math and science. Students will learn to use a dichotomous key to identify Kansas’ rocks. Activities include the study of subterranean Kansas, viscosity tubes to study flow rate, locating Ollie Oil and study rocks, porosity, cohesion and recycling.
Petro Active – Grades 6-9:
Petro Active teaches the formation and recovery of oil, natural gas and includes classroom experiments. Petro Active exceeds the Kansas
Department of Education Teaching Standards and National Science Curriculum Standards. It includes a teacher’s guide and activity kit.
Crude Facts – Grades 6-8:
Crude Facts has three lessons covering mapping, tangrams, slope algebraic reasoning, ratios, and proportional relationships. Students will practice these concepts and learn how land descriptions are used in the oil and gas industry, how the concepts of slope are used in directional drilling and will complete the curriculum by designing their own storage tanks calculating volume and surface area.
CORE Math – Grades 9-12:
CORE Math teaches about the use of relations and functions to model real number relationships that relate to the recovery of oil and natural gas. It includes real life scenarios and classroom energy experiments. Educators receive free training, a teacher’s guide and an activity kit.
CORE Science – Grades 9-12:
CORE Science teaches the structure, properties, patterns and characteristics of matter that relate to the recovery of oil and natural gas. It includes real life scenarios and classroom energy experiments. Educators receive free training, a teacher’s guide and an activity kit.
